Location of Puna Geothermal Hydrogen Sulfide Perimeter Monitors
- Request to:
- Department of Health
- Law used:
- State of Hawaii UIPA
- Status of this request:
- Request partially successful
- Refusal Reason
- I wasn't "denied" the answer to No 2, I just wasn't provided the answer so still waiting.
- Summary of Request
- At the last several public meetings with Puna Geothermal Venture we questioned why their perimeter H2S Monitors are located upwind and uphill from the plant and was told that DOH approved the placement. 1. Who in the DOH is responsible for approving the placement of PGV's perimeter H2S monitors? 2. What is the written protocol where PGV is to locate perimeter Hydrogen Sulfide Monitors so they pick up a gas that is heavier than air?

Dear Sir or Madam,
You answered question No. 1 but not No. 2!
I don't see anywhere in the NSP permit where it discusses the criteria for placing Hydrogen Sulfide monitors.
What is the protocol on how to determine where to place PGV's perimeter Hydrogen Sulfide monitors.
There must be some kind of training manual or something the Clean Air Branch has on monitoring H2S.
...
Sincerely yours
Sara Steiner
