Hi Rene, One of the purposes of the dealer report is to verify the amount of reported catch on the fisher's report. So this is one of our data resources or management tools to insure accuracy of our fisheries data collection. Basabe's Dive Hawaii is the name of his business. He is not a dealer. Chun terminated his primary dealership, Hawaiian Black Coral, on 1/17/19. Many of the primary dealers make business decisions or change their business practice all the time. Some can't make a go of it, while others opt not to buy from fishers and instead will purchase from other dealers. In both cases, these are reasons to terminate the primary dealership and the report requirement. Bin C. Hi Rene, The list provided as of December 2017, means that as of that date, these are the active primary aquarium dealers. Some dealers remain active, but that does not mean that they are actively purchasing from aquarium collectors. Because a primary aquarium dealer license does not exist, it does not cost the dealers anything to maintain a report requirement with DLNR. And, they are not required to actively purchase anything. They just have to report purchases or did not purchases on a weekly report period basis. Bin C.
