- Summary of Request
- I would like a copy of Puna Geothermal Venture's "PGV" pending application to renew their Underground Injection Control permit UH-1529, including all attachments.
- Summary of Resolution
I received a renewal application without a coversheet. Several of the attachments were repetitive and I don't know if this is everything or not. This permit renewal is dated 3-2020, despite the fact that we the public only found out about its existence in a letter from HELCO to the PUC.
What I do know is after reviewing the application, it seems to be missing a lot of information (not provided). The topographic map doesn't even cover the entire lease area of PGV, and certainly does not include known faults, fissure lines, graben structures and the entire Makai side of Kilauea volcano is slumping into the ocean exactly at the rift zone where PGV injects 6,000,000 a day until the lava erupted at their property line.
I also see no requirements in the permit for seismic monitoring, in direct opposition to permitting for geothermal plants injecting 8000 feet underground.
I plan on asking for when the Health Department was planning on notifying the public including a public hearing and opportunity to contest the granting of any more injection well permits to PGV
