Organic Foods Production Tax Credit Information

Request to:
Department of Taxation
Law used:
State of Hawaii UIPA
Status of this request:
Request partially successful
Refusal Reason
"Each December, DOTAX publishes data regarding Tax Credits claimed for the prior tax year (i.e., in December 2019, we published a report on tax credits claimed in TY 2017). The Organic Foods Production Tax Credit took effect for taxable periods beginning January 1, 2017. The TY 2017 report would have been the first report to provide information about this credit. However, as indicated in the report, the number of returns claiming this newly established tax credit and the amounts claimed for tax year 2017 were suppressed to prevent unintended disclosure of confidential tax data (HRS 235-116). Please check back with us in December 2020 to see if we can provide additional data for TY 2018 at that time."
Summary of Request
Seeking data from Form N-354. Specifically, the total amount of tax credits given, and the total number of filers who received the credit, by year for all years.
